In the course of his military conquest of Europe, Hitler promised to make the entire European continent "Judenrein," (free of Jews). What the Germans called the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question" became a Nazi priority Involving German industrialists, scientists and highly positioned bureaucrats, a new industry of death was created which eventually annihilated millions of men and women and over one million Jewish children. In the following pages, authentic photographs collected from the archives of Yad Vashem, the national Holocaust Memorial of the State of Israel, will depict the many ways by which the Nazis tried to accomplish their goal. |
